About Our Lab
The Community and Youth Research Lab (affectionately called the CandY Lab), is located in Bishop's University's Psychology department. We work on a variety of research projects, in partnership with several community groups.

The CandY Lab is supervised and led by Dr. Heather Lawford, a psychology professor at Bishop's University, Canada Research Chair on Youth Development, and Co-Director Research of the Centre of Excellence in Youth Engagement.

Our lab works on a variety of research projects simultaneously, supporting students in independent studies and Honours projects, as well as navigating larger research projects involving community and youth, such as our Youth Generativity Study and the Generativity and Extremism Study.
CandY Lab
Before the lab moved online, the CandY Lab was a a space where lab members exchanged ideas, supported one another, and passed around bowls of candy. We look forward to returning to having our general meetings in person, but until then, our weekly Microsoft Teams meetings will make do! We start every lab meeting with a quick check in. One of our most heated check ins was debating which is better: pancakes or waffles?
