Positions Within the Lab
Coder

Coders help to identify themes within qualitative data. This is done in a variety of ways, such as coding interviews.
Medium-High Involvement

Knowledge Mobilizer

Writer
Knowledge Mobilizers are responsible for exploring areas in which our research could be applied externally in a productive and positive way.
Medium-High Involvement
Writers may be involved in the writing, formatting, reading/researching, and editing of manuscripts, research proposals, grant proposals, and more.
High Involvement

Interviewer
Interviewers conduct interviews with participants. Interviewers are trained prior to conducting the interview, and all interviews are scripted.
Medium Involvement

Project (Co)Lead
Often, a research project will have a student lead or student co-leads who will work directly with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Lawford) to organize and plan all steps of the project.
High Involvement Level

Transcriber
Transcribers are responsible for transcribing audio recordings of interviews or focus groups into a text format used in the coding process.
Medium Involvement

Support
Some lab members are heavily involved in one project, and less involved in others. At times, other lab members may take on smaller, less time consuming tasks, to support the larger research projects.
Low Involvement

Lab Manager
The lab manager works to coordinate meetings, events, volunteers, paid staff, interviews and participants, and support the Principal Investigator.
